PROGRAM
In this one-day workshop, Anna Galvão and Francisca Inácio guide the entire creative process, from the initial design to the final touches. Come discover the creative process of these two artists—who bring distinct backgrounds and experiences—as they draw upon traditional craftsmanship passed down through their families in Ponta do Sol, Madeira.
MORNING
10h00 – 13h00
— Welcome + introduction of the artists and the creative process.
— Transferring the design onto the fabric using carbon paper and preparing for embroidery.
— Embroidery guided by the artists. Practice of stitches: stem, leaf, bullion, loose blanket, and French knot. Development of the embroidered composition.
13h00 – 14h00 — Lunch break.
AFTERNOON
14h00 – 17h00
— Embroidery finishing touches.
— Washing (removal of the drawing’s ink), pressing, and preparation for mounting.
— Rough finishing: filling the piece, alignment, gluing, and mounting in the frame.
— Finishing touches: application of a loop and cord.
All materials are included: fabric, thread, needle, thimble, and finger cot.

Venue: John dos Passos Cultural Center, Ponta do Sol.
This workshop is open to anyone with basic embroidery knowledge. It is ideal for an intermediate level.
The workshop is conducted in Portuguese and English.
Important Information
The workshop will take place with a minimum of 5 participants and a maximum of 16.

The registration fee will be refunded to those unable to attend, provided the cancellation is communicated up to three days before the scheduled date.
