For a long time, we’ve been thinking about ways to bring people together. We want to create a space to slow down, get ceative, and simply be. This is an invitation to step away from screens, use your hands to make something tactile, and learn a traditional art in a natural, relaxing environment.

Set in the serene, rural landscape of Madeira at the bio-hotel Quinta da Serra, this one-week gathering invites you into a softer rhythm of life. Days will unfold naturally between shared meals, quiet moments in the gardens, and creative techniques being explored.

5 nights at the beautiful bio-hotel Quinta da Serra, surrounded by mountainous rural landscapes.

Creative Focus

4 mornings (10:00 - 13:00) of guided embroidery courses led by local artisans. Master traditional techniques and learn the creative process of aligning ancestral know-how with contemporary design.

Into the Wild

One afternoon guided walk into Madeira’s natural landscapes. We will walk among rare species of flora to draw direct inspiration from nature for your own embroidered designs.

Local Food & Slow Living

Enjoy curated breakfasts, local farm-to-table dinners, and tasty snacks and beverages during workshop mornings.

A shared cultural experience

Unlike generic tourism, this is a real cultural expedition to the art of embroidery. You will live the authentic artisan lifestyle alongside local master embroiderers with more than 50 years of know-how. Alongside David, the founder of Bailha, and Micaela, our international host, you will be guided by Helena da Silva and Dorina Pita, who will share their stories and techniques passed down through generations. It is a space where cultures meet and heritage continues alive.

Registration

Register your spot by filing out the registration form. Once you have done this, you receive a confirmation e-mail and further information. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place.

How to Secure Your Spot

To keep our group intimate and guarantee the highest quality of attention from our master artisans, spots are strictly limited.

Deposit: A 50% deposit is required at the time of checkout to officially secure your place.
Final Payment: The remaining 50% balance will be requested via email and is due by September 15th, 2026.

Our Cancellation Policy

Our policy is designed to be as fair as possible while covering our non-refundable commitments:

Up until September 1st, 2026: You will receive a full refund of any amount paid.
Between September 1st and September 19th, 2026: You will receive a 50% refund.
After September 19th, 2026: No refunds will be issued (this also applies to late arrivals or no-shows).

Flight Disruptions & Travel Insurance

Madeira is an island in the middle of the Atlantic and
sometimes flights may be delayed or diverted due to adverse weather conditions. If you are unable to arrive on time, or if you need to extend your stay on the island, these costs are not covered by Bailha or the Bio Hotel Quinta da Serra. For your complete peace of mind, we recommend to purchase comprehensive travel insurance that covers weather-related flight disruptions and cancellations.
