PROGRAM

Discover the timeless art of Madeira Embroidery in an exclusive and personalized workshop, led by a local embroiderer.
In this immersive experience, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the cultural and historical context of this art and learn the stitches that have marked the island’s artisanal identity for generations.

Guided step-by-step by an experienced embroiderer, you’ll begin with introductory exercises and progress to traditional techniques such as cord stitch, shading, and buttonhole stitch.

Finally, you can apply your creativity by embroidering your own design on a cotton tote bag, creating a unique and memorable piece from your stay in Madeira.

All materials are included: fabric, thread, needle, and bag.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to learn the traditional techniques of Madeira Embroidery — no prior experience is necessary.
The workshop is conducted in Portuguese and English.

The workshop takes place with a minimum of 1 participant and a maximum of 5.
