PROGRAM<\/strong><\/p>

In this one-day workshop, Anna Galv\u00e3o and Francisca In\u00e1cio guide the entire creative process, from the initial design to the final touches. Come discover the creative process of these two artists\u2014who bring distinct backgrounds and experiences\u2014as they draw upon traditional craftsmanship passed down through their families in Ponta do Sol, Madeira. <\/p>

MORNING <\/strong><\/p>

10h00 – 13h00<\/p>

\u2014 Welcome + introduction of the artists and the creative process.<\/p>

\u2014 Transferring the design onto the fabric using carbon paper and preparing for embroidery.<\/p>

\u2014 Embroidery guided by the artists. Practice of stitches: stem, leaf, bullion, loose blanket, and French knot. Development of the embroidered composition. <\/p>

13h00 – 14h00 \u2014 Lunch break.<\/p>

<\/p>

AFTERNOON<\/strong><\/p>

14h00 – 17h00<\/p>

\u2014 Embroidery finishing touches.<\/p>

\u2014 Washing (removal of the drawing’s ink), pressing, and preparation for mounting.<\/p>

\u2014 Rough finishing: filling the piece, alignment, gluing, and mounting in the frame.<\/p>

\u2014 Finishing touches: application of a loop and cord.<\/p>

All materials are included: fabric, thread, needle, thimble, and finger cot.<\/p>

DetailsVenue: John dos Passos Cultural Center, Ponta do Sol.<\/p>

This workshop is open to anyone with basic embroidery knowledge. It is ideal for an intermediate level.
The workshop is conducted in Portuguese and English.<\/p>

Important InformationThe workshop will take place with a minimum of 5 participants and a maximum of 16.<\/p>
