Led by Jenita Sp\u00ednola, a specialist in natural dyes, and the Bailha team, we will explore the connection between the earth&#8217;s resources and traditional craftsmanship. <\/p><p>The morning will be dedicated to &#8220;Rubia tinctorium&#8221; (ruivinha), one of the oldest dye plants, known for creating shades ranging from terracotta to deep red. In the afternoon, the focus shifts to needlework, where we will apply the traditional stitches of Madeira Embroidery in compositions chosen by the participant. <\/p><p><strong>Workshop structure:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>10:00 AM \u2013 1:00 PM: Traditional dyeing (Jenita Sp\u00ednola): Introduction to natural dyeing and fiber preparation. Extraction of color from the &#8220;Rubia tinctorium&#8221; plant and the process of dyeing cotton scarves. <\/li><li>1:00 PM \u2013 2:00 PM: Lunch Break<\/li><li>2:00 PM \u2013 5:00 PM: Madeira Embroidery (Bailha): Application of traditional embroidery techniques and stitches onto the scarf dyed in the morning session.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Practical Information:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Materials: All materials are included. Each participant will receive 1 cotton scarf (90x90cm) in natural raw color, thread, needle and finger protection. <\/li><li>Location: Casa da Cultura de Santa Cruz\/Quinta do Revoredo (Rua Bela de S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9, 9100-105 Santa Cruz)<\/li><li>Audience: Open to the general public.
